2018 Full Program Concerts
"BLACKBEARD IS DEAD!”
was the talk on the streets in 1718. 300 years ago the “Golden Age of Piracy” was in full swing, bedeviling the great powers of Europe, and providing titillating fodder for news, gossip and fiction for the wider European population. The most famous of these pirates was Edward Teach, a.k.a. “Blackbeard”, and in 1718 Blackbeard’s career – and life – came to a climactic and sudden end. But, in 1718 Europe was also in the midst of the “High Baroque” period of music.
Let the Peralta Consort transport you back 300 years, performing music heard in the churches, chambers and coffee houses of early 18th century Europe, featuring works by Telemann, Bach, Quantz, Vivaldi, and more.
